My Pet Minerals

Why pets need My Pet Minerals
Veterinarians and farmers know that when animals exhibit what is called crib biting and pica, where they chew fence posts, barn doors, metal troughs, tin cans, etc.; they are vitamin and mineral deficient. Similarly when cats and dogs eat grass they instinctively know they are either deficient in vitamins and minerals or need extra ones to combat an illness or infection.  The simple cure is adding supplements to their diet.  But by the time they get to this point other health issues are evident.  It’s a better idea to prevent common diseases and My Pet Minerals is excellent for all our paws and claws friends.

Vitamins and Minerals
We know that vitamins are complex chemical substances which are indispensable to nutrition and that each of them is of importance for normal function of some special structure of the body. Disorder and disease result from any vitamin [or mineral] deficiency. It is not commonly realized, however, that vitamins control the appropriation of minerals, and in the absence of minerals they have no function to perform. Lacking vitamins, the cells in the pet can make some use of minerals, but lacking minerals, vitamins are useless.

The Ratio of Minerals
A study has been made of certain mineral requirements of the growing dog and factors which affect them by K. J. Jenkins and P. H. Phillips at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Wisconsin, Madison.  Data obtained from these studies indicate that an inter dependence exists among certain mineral elements which influence the requirements profoundly.   It has been demonstrated that doubling or tripling the dietary phosphorus in a ration just adequate in calcium increased the calcium requirement as measured by growth.  Mineral content can affect the positive or negative effects if the ratios of certain minerals like zinc to copper, calcium to magnesium to phosphorus are out of balance.  My Pet Minerals are ionic and balanced by nature.

Mineral deficiencies in pet birds
Mineral deficiencies present one of the most frequent problems in pet bird nutrition:

Calcium deficiency during reproduction leads to disturbances of egg production (thin-shelled eggs, egg binding) or a demineralization of the skeleton.  Without an adequate calcium supply, the growing birds rapidly develop rickets and adults will in the long term show osteomalacia.

Sodium deficiency (with disturbances of egg production or feather picking) occurs, if pet bird fanciers offer seed mixtures without mineral supplements.

Zinc deficiency results in disturbances of the mucous membrane of the crop which causes an inflammation.

Copper deficiency causes decreased feed intake, poor quality of egg shells or eventually fading feathers.

Selenium deficiency causes muscle dystrophy in birds fed exclusively on cereals.

Absorption and Availability
My Pet Minerals is a full complement of ionic minerals found in the ocean. Ocean animals never get sick unless affected by the action of man on the sea.  It’s the balance of minerals and the readily available state of ions hydrated and suspended in sea water.  Ions are atoms, not crystals, and atoms create the biological life on Earth from the smallest to the largest.  Your pet will immediately feel the effects of mineral nutrients in their diet and you will see their disposition, energy, and play improve.
